Remodeled kitchen with white cabinetry, island seating and hardwood floors in a Natick, Massachusetts home

Full Home Remodel in Natick, MA

Glen Street — Natick, MA
Full home remodel with finished lower level
Custom millwork throughout
Interior design: JBS Design
Completed 2024

Fully custom, start to finish. JBS Design brought the drawings. We built every one of them.

The main floor is millwork-heavy: a coffered family room ceiling, a shiplap fireplace wall carrying white oak floating shelves, and a kitchen built around a white oak island with an X-braced end panel, a matching hood surround, and herringbone marble running the length of the backsplash. The study is floor-to-ceiling navy cabinetry with a rolling library ladder.

Downstairs stopped being a basement. It’s a media room with tiered seating, a gym, a wet bar, a game room, a built-in desk wall, and a wine cellar fitted into the volume under the stairs — effectively another floor of the house. Lighting was custom throughout as well — the media room, the gym and the main living spaces were each lit for how the room actually gets used, rather than dropped on a standard grid.

Built to one homeowner’s taste, not a catalog

Everything in this house was made for it. The cabinetry and millwork were custom throughout — built to the homeowner’s specifications and to JBS Design’s drawings, not ordered from a catalog and adjusted to fit. Robyn had a clear picture of the details she wanted, and the job was executing them exactly.

That changes how a project runs. Custom work has to be measured, drawn and approved before anything is fabricated, and it has to be sequenced so the trades land in the right order. A coffered ceiling, a shiplap wall carrying floating shelves, and an island with an X-braced end panel are not decisions you make on site. They are decided early, drawn, and then built to the drawing.

It is also why we are direct about what we do and what we do not. We do not design. JBS Design produced the drawings for this house. Our work was building them, coordinating the specialty trades who fabricated the cabinetry and millwork, and holding the standard across every room.
